India won their first ever bilateral ODI series against South Africa 5-1, clinching the final match by 8 wickets. It was once again Virat Kohli who led from the front scoring his 35th ODI hundred. Kohli, announced as Man of the Series, took no time in thanking his wife Anushka Sharma for his performance on this tour.

Kohli said: “My wife who keeps me motivated deserves a lot of credit. She’s been criticised a lot in the past. But she’s one person who’s kept me going throughout the tour.” This was Kohli’s first international assignment after marriage. Anuskha has constantly been targeted by social media trolls after Kohli’s poor show in international event. The couple tied the knot in December in Italy at Tuscan Villa resort.

Kohli also spoke about his longitivtiy in the game.  He said: “It’s a wonderful feeling. I got 8-9 years left in my career. I want to make the most of it. Want to train as hard as I can. It’s a blessing from God that I’m healthy. I’m getting to play for my country. I get to captain my country. It’s an honour. I just look at it that way. I just keep my head down so I can give 120% for the team.”
