Virat Kohli wins CEAT Cricketer of the Year 2014

In the 17th CEAT Cricket Ratings Awards that is presently being held at the Trident hotel, Mumbai,the CEAT Cricketer of the year award was won by India’s Virat Kohli. Unfortunately, Kohli was not there to accept his award. Kohli recently captained the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 7.
Kohli has had a tremendous time in International cricket over the last few years. With 25 international hundreds just six years into his international career, Kohli has been earmarked for greatness in the days to come. Already a senior member of any squad he is picked in, Kohli is one of the torch-bearers of Indian cricket and a part of what is sure to be India’s next generation of batting greats.
The CEAT awards was first introduced in 1995. The Player ratings in Tests and One-Day Internationals (ODIs) take into consideration number of runs scored, number of wickets taken, number of catches taken and number of wicketkeeping dismissals in an innings. The player ratings for Twenty20 Internationals (T20I) additionally takes into consideration the economy rate of bowlers. Points are awarded on the basis of minimum runs scored or wickets taken, with bonuses for extra runs or wickets.
