Barely less than 24 hours after being announced as the new head coach of Team India, Ravi Shastri heaped praises on Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC). With 10 former cricketers having applied for the post, Shastri was undoubtedly the front-runner for the job, as he thanked his impressive interview. It was also reported that India skipper Virat Kohli, too, was in favour of Shastri as the new coach. As Shastri gave his first interview post being announced as the Indian coach, he said that the current Indian team can be the best ever to be produced by India till date. Cricket experts raise eyebrows on appointment of new Team India coaches

“It can be a better Test team than any Indian team we have had. This is a team you can travel with. There is a battery of pacers which can do well in all conditions. Their age is such that they are playing at the right time. I have always relished a challenge and I am looking forward to my stint with India. When you are asked to open the batting in overcast conditions, it is a challenge. I am used to challenges, bring on another one,” said Shastri in an exclusive interview to India Today. Shastri’s first assignment as the India coach would be the tour of Sri Lanka, which starts with a three-Test series. Ganguly had reservations about Shastri’s appointment as India coach, says sources

Meanwhile, a surprise decision by India’s cricket board to appoint two high-profile stars to assist new coach Ravi Shastri has some experts wondering how much autonomy the former all-rounder will wield at the helm, as reported by AFP.
