Kings XI Punjab are on course to a fantastic total against Chennai Super Kings in the IPL 2014 Qualifier 2 at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. Virender Sehwag’s century has led the way for Punjab. He got to the milestone on 50 balls. David Miller is batting with Sehwag and Punjab are 211 for two in 18 overs.
Sehwag got to his ton off 50 balls in the 16th over. Mohit Sharma was brought back into the attack for the 17th over. Miller smacked him for a four through cover and then the next ball there was a run-out scare, but it was quite doubtful and Miller was given the benefit of the doubt. Later, Miller got a low full-toss and Miller smashed it for a six over long-on for a six. He then got an edge through third-man for a four.
Ravindra Jadeja then came on to bowl the 18th over and Sehwag smashed him for a six over long-on. He edged the next ball fine through third man for a four. Then, Sehwag carted another one over long-on for a six.
Earlier, Chennai Super Kings won the toss and predictably decided to field first. Chennai have retained the same team that cruised to a seven wicket win against Mumbai Indians in the eliminator. Kings XI Punjab on the other hand have brought in their strike bowler Sandeep Sharma, who replaces Rishi Dhawan.
