Former Indian batsman turned commentator Virender Sehwag is known to have many friends in the cricket fraternity. Sehwag who is a jolly character and a straight forward human being is also very active on the micro-blogging site Twitter. On Monday, the dashing opener sent out a tweet to wish one of his friends, England cricketer Kevin Pietersen who turned 36. Sehwag who played with Pietersen when the duo were part of the Delhi Daredevils franchise in the Indian Premier League, praised the Englishman’s big-hitting abilities in his tweet. Sehwag a few days back also praised BCCI’s decision to rope in former India cricketer, Anil Kumble as the head coach of the Indian cricket team. Sehwag congratulated Kumble on his selection and also said that he his presence would be a motivation in itself for the Indian players. Meanwhile, Pietersen who turned 36 today played was re-signed by the Delhi Daredevils in 2014 after his international career with the England cricket team was cut short. His bitter relationship with the Team director and England’s former Test captain Andrew Strauss as well as current Test captain Alastair Cook led to his ouster from the squad.
Pietersen, however is a part of Melbourne Stars in Big Bash League (BBL), played for Rising Pune Supergiants (RPS) in Indian Premier League 2016 (IPL) and Quetta Gladiators in Pakistan Super League (PSL) in Pakistan’s inaugural domestic T20I tournament.
