On Wednesday, Washington Sundar became the 220th Indian to make his ODI debut as India take on Sri Lanka in the second ODI at Mohali. Sundar also became the fourth player to make his ODI debut for India this year after Kuldeep Yadav, Shardul Thakur and Shreyas Iyer (in previous match). Sundar was drafted into the squad as a replacement for Kedar Jadhav on Saturday. At 18 year 69 days, he also became the ninth-youngest to represent the country.

Sundar caught attention as a replacement for Ravichandran Ashwin for Rising Pune Supergiant (RPS) in the 2017 IPL. He was one of RPS stars in the play-offs. Only 16, he was one of India’s stars in the 2016 Under-19 World Cup.
