Wasim Jaffer’s nephew Arman Jaffer scores 473 to break Harris Shield record

Mumbai: Feb 15, 2013

Arman Jaffer,  Wasim Jaffer‘s nephew, created history on Thursday by becoming the highest scorer in the Mumbai Inter-School Cricket Tournament for the Harris Shield, scoring 473 runs for Rizvi Springfield against IES VN Sule at the Matunga Gymkhana.

Arman slammed 65 boundaries, 16 sixes to score a mammoth 473 from just 359 deliveries, reported the Times of India.

The 14-year-old Arman walked in to bat on the second Day of Rizvi’s innings against IES VN Sule, and spent 437 minutes at the crease to become the highest run-scorer in an innings in the Harris Shield history.

Is baar toh bana dega 500 (This time he will get to the 500-run mark ),” said one spectator.  In 2010, Arman had missed the 500 mark by two runs against Raja Shivaji school in a Giles Shield (Mumbai Inter-schools tournament for junior boys) match.

“I was very tired. The best part about my batting is that I don’t have any preconceived notions. I don’t think much. The only thing that matters is the attack. I have my methods of dealing with each bowling attack. Once I have sorted that out, runs begin to flow,” Arman said after missing the 500 mark yet again.

Arman and Siddharth Singh added 631 runs before the latter was out for 177, thus coming inches close to the 664-run Harris Shield record set by Sachin Tendulkar and Vinod Kambli.
