The final few moments from the 2011 World Cup final between India and Sri Lanka are bound to be etched in every Indian’s heart. MS Dhoni’s 79-ball 91 was even more special, as the then India captain hit a six to take India to their second World Cup title, first at home. As Team India practiced at Wankhede Stadium ahead of the home series against New Zealand, MS Dhoni almost recreated his shot from the 2011 World Cup, reminding everyone of that glorious finish to India’s journey in the tournament.

Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) put up several photos of Team India practicing at Wankhede for the first ODI. The images included those of Virat Kohli facing Arjun Tendulkar in the nets, Hardik Pandya, Akshar Patel practicing as well as one shot of Dhoni’s six:

 

India have had a fruitful home season, winning the ODI series 4-1 and drawing the T20I series 1-1 against Australia, as they enter the next series.
