It was a proud moment for the Marsh brothers, as both Shaun and Mitchell notched up centuries in the same innings of a Test, becoming the third pair of brothers after Ian and Greg Chappell [twice] and Mark and Steve Waugh to have achieved the feat. It was an emotional moment for the brothers, but could have as well ended their innings as a result of an emotional celebration and the entire episode left captain Steven Smith livid.

Later, Shaun took the blame on himself. “That was my fault. I just wanted to give him a hug, and I saw him starting to celebrate and lost all concept of where the ball was and what was happening with the ball, and he sort of pushed me off and said ‘you better get to the other end’,” reported cricket.com.au.

Smith, who started with a clap of appreciation, was seen becoming animated after realising they were in the middle of their run and could have gotten run out.

“I pretty much went for the high-five and Shaun went for the hug, and we somewhere just parked in the middle and had a quick, split-second of panic,” Mitchell added.
