West Indies cricketer Andre Fletcher was on Thursday arrested at the Douglas Charles Airport in Dominica for carrying 50 rounds of ammunition. He will be produced in a court on Friday.
According to the Dominica News Online, the 27-year-old cricketer was in Dominica for several days as he was practising with the Windward Island Volcanoes team. The manager of the team said he was aware of the situation and Fletcher will be provided complete support.
“I will support him, I will not abandon him … that is the job of a manager,” said Lockhart Sebastian, the manager of the Windward Island Volcanoes team.
Sebastian informed that Fletcher was arrested when he was leaving the island. Fletcher is reportedly held at the Calibshie Police Station, from where he will be taken to a court in Wesley.
Fletcher has played 15 One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and 22 Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) for the West Indies. He made his ODI as well as T20I debuts against Australia in 2008.
