Sulieman Benn claimed five wickets and Jerome Taylor three as the West Indies humiliated Bangladesh by 296 runs in the second Test on the fourth day to register a dominating 2-0 series win at St Lucia on Tuesday. Chasing 488 to win, Bangladesh collapsed from 158 for three to 188 all-out as West Indies produced another dominating performance.

Tamim Iqbal and Mominul Haque added 110 runs for the third wicket, leading a spectacular fightback for the tourists. But once the partnership was broken, there was no stopping the West Indies as they registered an emphatic win in the 500th Test of their history.

After a fine second session wherein Bangladesh did not lose any wicket, they started off well in the final session keeping the West Indies at bay. Both the batsmen rotated the strike well and their partnership frustrated the hosts for a very long time.

In the 59th over, Tamim was lured into playing a big stroke and he was caught in the deep by Shannon Gabriel off Benn, and his dismissal marked the beginning of a dramatic collapse. Mahmudullah was trapped in front of the wickets soon and Mominul too was lured into playing a big stroke as he got out on a full-toss.

The Bangladeshi lower-order batsmen could not produce much of a fight and collapsed to 192 all-out. Taylor, who claimed three wickets, also completed his 100 wickets for the West Indies in the format.

Earlier at tea, Bangladesh fought back in their second innings as they reached 114 for two against the West Indies, chasing 489 on Day Four of second Test at St Lucia. Tamim Iqbal was unbeaten on 43 and Mominul Haque on 31 as Bangladesh produced an inspired batting show in their second essay after being punished by the hosts earlier in the game.

The tourists, who have so far struggled in the Test series due to their poor show with the bat, would be inspired with the way Tamim and Mominul batted in the second session to keep the West Indies at bay despite being under tremendous pressure.

The left-handed pair of Tamim and Mominul has so far added 66 runs for the third wicket, leading a strong reply by the Bangladesh side. Tamim, usually an attacking batsman, faced as many as 131 balls and hit only one four and a six to score 43 not out. On the other hand, Mominul took 78 deliveries and three fours to reach 31 not out.
