Under the machismo and the twirled moustaches, there is a doting father in Shikhar Dhawan. His posts with son Zoravar are famous for the hilarity. It was his step-daughter Aliyah’s birthday on May 5 and father Dhawan could not be a part of the celebrations due to his IPL commitments with Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). The dashing left-hander posted a cute and emotional video on Twitter, expressing his love for her and his sadness for not celebrating the event with her.

Dhawan wrote, ” Happy birthday my angel Aliyah. You are a great soul and we are always proud of you. Have a great day! Sad we are not able to celebrate it together. But our heart is alwys there with u. Love u lots.”

Dhawan has to travel to Melbourne quite often to spend time with his wife. He is married to Ayesha Mukherjee, an Anglo-Indian, whose father is a Bengali and mother, English. She is a Melbourne-based amateur boxer. She was once married to an Australian businessman with whom and has two daughters from her first marriage, Rhea, and Aliyah.

Dhawan tied knots with Ayesha in 2012 and the couple were blessed with Zoravar in 2014.

Though Dhawan’s team, SRH, are having a phenomenal run in the IPL 2018, the southpaw has not really fired to expectations. The injury he suffered early on did not help the cause either. Dhawan has scored 185 runs this season at 30.83. SRH are leading the points table at the moment. On his daughter’s birthday, Dhawan played a crucial knock of 33 and contributed to the cause of SRH’s win over Delhi Daredevils.
