Ireland twin sisters, Isobel Joyce and Cecelia Joyce will play for the nation in the coming ICC Women’s World T20 2014. The unique thing about the twin sisters is that they hail from the Joyce family where five siblings have represented the nation in the sport.

Eldest brother Augustine (Gus) played for Ireland, then it was Ed, who almost played for England in the ICC World Cup 2007, but returned to play for Ireland in ICC World Cup 2011. Dominick, has also played for Ireland.

“We learnt cricket in our backyard,” said Isobel(also the Ireland skipper) to Hindustan Times.

She added, “We grew up with cricket because my brothers were always playing cricket or discussing the game. And it was purely for the love of the game that it stuck on.”

“In Ireland, the cricket set up is still very amateur and none of the players earn money from the game where the Gaelic game like Gaelic football and hurling and rugby dominate.”

Eoin Morgan, who plays for England, hails from Ireland.
