India’s wicketkeeper in the Tests, Wriddhiman Saha, has suggested that India are aiming to dominate in the four-match Test series in West Indies. The wicketkeeper-batsman gave a press conference on behalf of the Indian Cricket Team on Friday at National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru. “We will go in with this series with an intention to dominate. We’ve done it in the past, we’ll do it again. The series won last year (Sri Lanka and South Africa) was an overall excellent experience for the team,” Saha added. After the West Indies tour, India are set to host the likes of New Zealand, Bangladesh, England and Australia and will play a total of 17 Tests at home.

Saha who replaced MS Dhoni as India’s No. 1 wicketkeeper in the Tests spoke about his role in the team. He said, “Keeping is a thankless job. You are always blamed if I miss a catch or stumping. I felt bad to when I got injured in Sri Lanka, but happy we won the series.” Saha’s injury had given Naman Ojha his Test debut, who claimed four catches behind the wickets and a stumping and did a decent job too.

Dhoni, who made his Test debut for India in 2005, retired from the Tests at the end of 2014 played 90 Tests for India. He had 256 catches and 38 stumpings to his name in that span. “I always have a chat with Dhoni as he gives me me tips about keeping and batting,” Saha added.
