Veteran batsman Younis Khan on Tuesday became the leading run-scorer for Pakistan in Test cricket, when he surpassed the legendary Javed Miandad. Younis achieved the feat during the first day’s play in the opening Test between Pakistan and England at the Sheikh Zayed International Stadium in Abu Dhabi. Before this Test, Younis was just 19 runs away from a landmark moment in his cricketing career. He achieved the feat with a massive six over midwicket off Moeen Ali, in the 62nd over of the innings. The 37-year-old venerable batsman, Younis has so far played 101 Tests for Pakistan, scoring 8,814 runs at an impressive average of 54.07. Younis already holds the record of making most number of centuries for Pakistan in Test cricket. He has 30 tons and 29 half-centuries to his name, which shows that Younis has a splendid conversion rate whenever he goes on to make a half-century.
Younis was on the third spot when he came in to this Test against England. He had 8,814 runs in the format, right behind the legendary Inzamam-ul-Haq and Miandad. In 119 Tests, Inzamam scored 8,829 runs at an average of 50.16, whereas from 124 Tests for Pakistan, Miandad scored 8,832 runs in the longest format of cricket.

Younis is regarded as one of the finest batsman to ever play for Pakistan, as with an average of 54.07, he is the only Pakistani batsman to hit centuries against all Test playing nations.
