Final day of Round 1 of the Ranji Trophy 2017-18 witnessed some dazzling cricket all across the board. Yusuf Pathan stole the limelight again with his second hundred in as many days. Quite a few Indian star players took field on day four, where we witnessed quite a mixed of varied fortunes.

Baroda captain Yusuf Pathan continued his scintillating show from Day 3. Coming in at 50 for 4, Yusuf smacked Himachal Pradesh’s bowlers. His was not afraid of what was happening on the other end. His reached his fifty in 60 balls, 3 fewer than his first innings half-century. Yusuf lead from the front, and coupled with Atit Sheth, brought Baroda back in the game. He reached his ton in 122 balls and remained unbeaten on 136. They added 218. Baroda’s innings folded for 318.

Tamil Nadu captain Abhinav Mukund failed to make an impression in the first innings but delivered a strong show in the second. He single-handedly ensured Tamil Nadu take lead despite wickets tumbling. He reached his fifty in 138 balls.

Wriddhiman Saha could not rekindle his first innings show. He looked in a hurry in the second innings and lost his wicket for a 10-ball 15.

Manoj Tiwary remained unbeaten on 22 as Bengal declared their innings on 161 for 5.

Ishant Sharma toiled hard for 19 overs but was unable to pick a wicket.

Irfan Pathan failed to live up to his hype from the first innings. He fell for 4.

Ravichandran Ashwin’s batting continued to disappoint. Much like his first outing, Ashwin did not impress and fell for a lowly 15. His bowling was not menacing either. He bowled 14 overs without much success but brought his side back in with two quick wickets. In the end Tamil Nadu had to be content with a draw against Andhra.
