Yuvraj Singh hit out at the Barabati crowd after their hooliganism during the second Twenty20 International (T20I) between India and South Africa at Cuttack on Monday. Yuvraj brought fame to the nation and the shortest format of the game when he hit six sixes in an over in the inaugural edition of ICC World T20 in South Africa. He was also adjured ‘Man of the Series’ in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011. In India it isn’t new for fans to pelt stones and protest angrily to a defeat. Remember ICC Cricket World Cup 2003, when the Indian lost their match against Australia. Homes of many cricketers were vandalised and broken into, forcing the team to ask for the support of their own fans, and for the country to be patient. Fast forward to 2014; this time due to his slow batting in the final of ICC World T20 the person who faced the irk of fans nationwide was Yuvraj.
What a shame ! When we win all is good when we loosing is that how u behave ? Pl show some respect to your players and respect the game
Yuvraj who was raised up on a pedestal by the Indian fans once, was now being brought down to a new low as his performance failed to match up to the people’s expectation. As India lost the final people started losing their minds and pelted stones at Yuvraj’s home. Yuvraj Singh is well aware of the trials and tribulations of being a cricketer in India with fans being so overly passionate about the game. As he mentioned in his tweet, resorting to violence is not at all accepted by anyone. One can criticize players or teams for the way they played, but vandalism is never pardonable.
