Zaheer Khan, the India fast bowler, has said that Ishant Sharma is a hardworking bowler and that it was important for a bowler with his experience to rise to the occasion. Zaheer is currently going through his rehab for injury. He last played for India during the tour to New Zealand earlier this year. With him out of the side, Ishant is India’s most senior fast bowler and delivered with a remarkable spell of seven for 74.
Speaking to Times of India, Zaheer said, “I keep talking to him. He’s a hardworking bloke. I’m glad it happened at such a big stage. It was important for him to step up and be the senior bowler in the team, having played more than 50 Tests now. I’m happy for him.”
Mohammed Shami, who started his Test career with great promise, hasn’t been consistent and has struggled to pick wickets. Speaking about Shami, Zaheer said, “It’s still early days for him. These are things you learn over a period of time. The guy has definitely got potential. His seam position is very good. You learn with experience. You have to give him time to learn.”
Zaheer has recently launched his business venture which deals with physical fitness. He will start bowling in August he said.
