Zimbabwe opening batsman Hamilton Masakadza has been dropped from the squad for the upcoming three-match One-Day International (ODI) series against Ireland at home, the first match of which is scheduled to begin on Friday, October 9. The reason for dropping him from the squad has been attributed to a poor run of form. However, his younger brother and left-arm spinner Wellington Masakadza has been picked for the upcoming series, and he will be the third member of the Masakadza family to get to play for the national team, with brother Shingi being the second to have represented the team. Masakadza had suffered from a poor run in both the Twenty20 Internationals (T20I) (25 and 9) and ODIs (15 and 7) against Pakistan at home, due to which he was axed for the third and final game. Elton Chigumbura has been named the captain of the squad for the upcoming series, which will also feature regular members such as Sikandar Raza, Chamu Chibhabha, Malcolm Waller, etc.
