Zimbabwe vs Pakistan: Twitter hails ‘The Fakhar of Pakistan’

Fakhar Zaman became the sixth batsman in ODIs to hit a double-century on Friday helping Pakistan  to their highest-ever team total of 399 for 1. In the process, Zaman, along with fellow opener Iman-ul-Haq (113), set the record for the highest partnership for the opening wicket milking 304 runs in 42 overs.

Zaman also surpassed the long standing record of Saeed Anwar (194) – the now previous best score by a Pakistan player in ODIs set in 1997. Zaman ended with 210 not out, putting him in the fifth slot for player with the highest score  in ODIs. Zaman’s 148-ball effort was also the third fastest 200.

Pakistan eventually won the match against Zimbabwe  by 244 runs – registering their second biggest win in terms of runs with Shadab Khan returning 4 for 28, Faheem Ashraf scalping 2 for 16 and Usman Khan registering 2 for 23. But, the star of the day was Zaman and the ‘Twitterverse’ celebrated his magnificent knock in style.
