In 2004, when Sammy made his One-Day International debut for West Indies, he became the first person from the island of St. Lucia to play international cricket.
Sammy is not only good with the bat but he has been a promiment all-rounder in international cricket. In his Test debut, Sammy took seven wickets against England, which is also the best bowling figures for a West Indies cricketer since Alf valentine in 1950.
In October 2010, Sammy was appointed the West Indies captain. He lead the team to ICC World T20 2012 victory in Sri Lanka, their first major ICC trophy in last eight years.
Sammy will also be remembered for taking the catch of Indian batting legend Sachin Tendulkar in his final and 200th Test.
