Tuesday was supposed to be the fifth day of the fifth Ashes Test at Sydney Cricket Ground. However, Australia quickly wrapped up, completing Ashes whitewash victory over England on the third day of the match.
Thousands of fans gathered at Sydney’s Opera House on Tuesday to celebrate Australia’s Ashes victory. The players took the players walk of glory, along with Prime Minister Tony Abbott, with the Sydney Harbour Bridge at the backdrop.
“The players deserve all the credit. They have done a lot of hard work,” Lehmann said.
Michael Clarke hailed the support from fans throughout the series, including a new world record crowd of 91,092 on the opening day of the fourth Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
“It’s extremely satisfying. All the hard work has paid off,” he said.
