Defending champions India cruised to a comfortable eight-wicket win over former champions South Africa in match 11 of the ICC Champions Trophy 2017 at The Oval in London on Sunday. With this win, India sealed their spot in the semi-finals of the competition, where they will most likely take on Bangladesh at Edbaston in Birmingham on Thursday. South Africa, meanwhile, have been eliminated from the tournament, as they have lost two of the three games they have played, and are currently at the second spot, to be replaced by either of Pakistan or Sri Lanka on Monday. India, on the other hand, have more or less sealed the top spot in their group table. FULL CRICKET SCORECARD: India vs South Africa, ICC Champions Trophy 2017 – Match 11 at The Oval

Virat Kohli hailed India’s intensity as the key to their eight-wicket demolition of South Africa as the holders stormed into the Champions Trophy semi-finals. Kohli’s side had to win their final Group B fixture at The Oval to avoid an embarrassing exit and they rose to the challenge with a ruthless display. The India captain claimed it was their best performance in this year’s tournament and he felt their steely focus was the difference between the teams. “We wanted to step up that intensity. This is probably our best game so far,” Kohli said. FULL CRICKET UPDATES: India vs South Africa, ICC Champions Trophy 2017 – Match 11 at The Oval

“When the opportunity comes your way, you have to grab it. It was a good toss to win. The fielders backed our bowlers.” Shikhar Dhawan’s 78 and Kohli’s 76 were the key contributions as India chased down 192 with 12 overs to spare.
