Australia won by 62 runs against South Africa in the fifth One-Day International (ODI) of the triangular series. Australia had scored 282 for the loss of seven wickets, courtesy some brilliant batting by Philip Hughes and Mitchell Marsh. Marsh, who has been a given a chance in the tri-series to impress the Australian selectors ahead of the ICC World Cup 2015, grabbed the opportunity with both hands as he scored 86 in just 69 balls, and took two wickets for 23 runs, and was rightfully adjudged the player of the match. Marsh’s innings came at a time when Australia were in serious danger of not even making it to the final following their shock defeat to the hosts in their previous game.
