Sri Lanka scored 305 for five on Day One of the second Test against South Africa. On a flat batting track, Sri Lanka decided to bat and were rocked early when Dale Steyn snared Upul Tharanga and Kumar Sangakkara. Mahela Jayawardene walked in and played a beautiful innings to take Sri Lanka to 305 for five at stumps. His innings was his 11th ton at the venue and in doing so, he also completed his 34th Test ton. It was a wonderful innings of 140 not out as the next highest score was 63 by Angelo Mathews. Jayawardene batted through the day and ensured that Sri Lanka don’t lose wickets in a heap. Kaushal Silva also contributed with a good innings of 44.
