Aaron Finchc Mark Wood b Moeen Ali 19 24 2 0 79.17
8.4
M Ali to A Finch, OUT! This was coming. Finch wasn't able to get hold of Ali. He tries to create something out of nothing and loses his wicket. Ali flights the delivery on off and gets it to drift a bit as well. Finch reveals all his stumps to make some room for himself. Tries to go inside out but only manages an outside edge to Mark Wood stationed at short third man. He makes no mistake and this is a big blow to Australia. Smart bowling change by Morgan has resulted in a wicket.
Travis Headc Jonny Bairstow b David Willey 5 4 0 0 125
1.2
D Willey to T Head, OUT! Too easy. But kudos to Willey. He kept it on a fullish length, wide outside off and enticing the batsman to go for the expansive drive, who falls prey to it. The ball swings in the air and off the pitch, going away from Head who flashes his bat hard from the crease without any footwork. He gets an outside edge to the first slip region where Bairstow takes it easily. Australia lose their first wicket in the second over.
Shaun Marshb Moeen Ali 24 30 4 0 80
10.2
M Ali to S Marsh, OUT! Bowled 'em! Ali is the man for England. He bowls another loopy delivery on middle stump and outfoxed the left-hander with the trajectory. Marsh plays for the spin but misses it altogether as the ball straightens and crashes into his stumps. Another one bites the dust.
Marcus Stoinisc Jos Buttler b Adil Rashid 22 32 0 1 68.75
19.4
A Rashid to M Stoinis, OUT! Googly has done the job for the leg spinner. Half the side is back in the hut for Australia. This is not looking good for them. Stoinis is walking back with a look of disbelief. He thought the wide and shortish delivery was an opportunity to get some runs but it was a bit too close for the square cut. He went with hard hands and only managed an edge. Buttler takes it easily and jumps in celebration.
Tim Paine (C) (W)c Mark Wood b Moeen Ali 12 19 1 0 63.16
16.1
M Ali to Tim Paine, OUT! Four down, Australia. Now they lose their skipper as well. Moeen Ali continues with his good work. He is ripping through the Aussie line-up. Tim Paine is the victim this time. Moeen flights the ball on off stump and Paine goes for the reverse sweep. But he gets a top edge and goes straight to Mark Wood at short third man. Too easy for the number one team right now.
Glenn Maxwellc Jonny Bairstow b Liam Plunkett 62 64 4 2 96.88
36.5
L Plunkett to G Maxwell, OUT! The Big Show is gone! Huge, huge wicket for England. He was looking in ominous touch. Liam bowls it on a back of a length, angling into the body and Maxwell picked it beautifully off his hips. But the ball hangs in the air and Bairstow comes running across to his right from deep square leg to complete the catch easily. A nothing delivery gets an important wicket. After a series of failures, this knock will give immense confidence to Maxwell, although Australia would have loved him to carry till the end.
Ashton Agarlbw b Adil Rashid 40 62 4 0 64.52
41.1
A Rashid to A Agar, OUT! Rashid strikes and removes the set batsman. He bowls this leg spinner quicker through the air, a scrambled seam delivery which is served very full and around off. Agar tries to sweep but misses and is hit on the back leg. They appeal and the finger goes up almost immediately. Agar has a chat with his partner before trudging back. The replays show that it's pretty adjacent and would have crashed into the stumps. Australia losing the plot towards the end.
Michael Neserc Joe Root b Liam Plunkett 6 14 0 0 42.86
42.2
L Plunkett to M Neser, OUT! Australia have lost their eighth wicket. Full and outside off from Plunkett and Neser goes with hard hands. He tries to hit it over the bowler's head but gets it from the outside half of the bat. The ball lobs in the air and Joe Root at mid off takes an easy catch. Another soft dismissal.
Andrew Tyec Jos Buttler b Liam Plunkett 19 20 2 1 95
46.6
L Plunkett to A Tye, OUT! A good low catch by the keeper. Another slower one by Liam, it's in the line of the stumps as Tye hops back to make some room. He ends up reaching out for it and edging it behind to the keeper. It's dying in front of Buttler who does well to go down low to catch it inches above the ground. Third wicket for Plunkett and AUSTRALIA ARE BUNDLED OUT FOR 214!
Kane Richardsonc Joe Root b Mark Wood 1 10 0 0 10
45.3
M Wood to K Richardson, OUT! Another soft dismissal and another catch for the English Test skipper, Joe Root. Full and on the stumps from Wood, Kane goes for the big shot but doesn't get the elevation. Joe Root at mid off takes an easy catch. Ninth wicket down for Australia.

Jason Royb Billy Stanlake 0 2 0 0 0

B Stanlake to J Roy, OUT! Death rattle! Billy o Billy, what a strike! Big movement for the big man. He serves it just behind the good length and lands it outside off. It nips back in sharply at 87.3 mph, Roy with unsure footwork ends up remaining back at the crease in an attempt to keep it out. But he is beaten for pace and movement as the ball barges through his defense, takes a big chunk of inside edge and destroys the stumps. Just the kind of beginning the Aussies needed.
Jonny Bairstowc Travis Head b Kane Richardson 28 23 6 0 121.74
7.2
K Richardson to J Bairstow, OUT! Stop the press, Bairstow is gone without hitting a century. Missed out on the chance to equal Sangakkara's record of four consecutive hundreds. Richardson digs in a short ball, angling into the batsman and Bairstow wheels a pull shot and middles it nicely also. But his shot lacks the desired elevation and he ends up finding the only fielder manning the deep region on the leg side with surgical precision. Head moves across a bit to his right from deep square leg, holds his composure and catches the ball with his fingers pointing skywards. Have to say, a good field placement that by Paine. It has fetched them a big breakthrough. 177 needed off 256 balls.
Alex Haleslbw b Michael Neser 5 10 1 0 50
3.3
M Neser to A Hales, OUT! Maiden wicket for Neser as he catches Hales right in front of the sticks. Won't say it was a wicket-taking delivery as it was nice and full, easy to be flicked across the line. Hales also thought the same but somehow failed to put bat to ball. Got rapped on the pads, they appealed and umpire Dharmasena raised his finger after thinking for a while. Alex has a chat with his partner before returning to the pavilion. The replays suggest that Alex played down the wrong line and was pretty plumb. Also, Kumar Sangakkara pointed out that it was bowled with a scrambled seam and that confuses the batsmen mostly as they are not sure which way it will move.
Joe Rootc Tim Paine b Billy Stanlake 50 71 4 0 70.42
31.5
B Stanlake to Joe Root, OUT! Hello, what's going on? Australia are doing really well to chip away at the wickets. Another set batsman is back in the pavilion and it's not going to be a smooth sail for England. Billy serves a shortish length ball outside off, Root wants to rotate the strike and as a result goes after this one. He wants to milk a single by tapping it down to third man but ends up getting a thick outside edge to the keeper. Root falls immediately after scoring a fifty and this game is wide open at the moment.
Eoin Morgan (C)c Tim Paine b Andrew Tye 69 74 11 0 93.24
28.5
A Tye to E Morgan, OUT! A wicket against the run of play. Tye switches to 'round the wicket and it immediately brings him success. He hurls a widish delivery outside off, Morgan tries to whack it square of the wicket on the off side but ends up getting an under edge behind. Paine makes no mistake and the finger is up as well after the appeal is made. End of a brilliant knock by the English skipper and it also breaks the 115-run stand. Can Australia make something out of it?
Jos Buttler (W)c Kane Richardson b Andrew Tye 9 11 2 0 81.82
30.6
A Tye to Jos Buttler, OUT! Buttler is gone and England need 52 runs with 5 wickets in hand. Tye was very successful in the Indian T20 League which concluded recently and there he showed his control over the knuckle ball. Delivers one this time, on a length outside off, Buttler is early into his lofted shot and ends up mishitting it off the inner half of the bat. It loops in the air towards mid on where Richardson takes the catch safely. Australia are hanging in there...
Moeen Alic sub b Michael Neser 17 17 3 0 100
38.4
M Neser to M Ali, OUT! Moeen gets a bit too greedy and tries to finish the game quickly. Attempts to pull this short one into the stand at mid-wicket but fails to get enough power behind it. D'Arcy Short (sub) near the fence judges the skier to perfection. 18 needed off 69 balls! Is there any twist in the tale?
