Aaron Finchlbw b Mark Wood 100 106 6 3 94.34
39.1
M Wood to A Finch, OUT! GONE! Century and out for Finch! Timely wicket for England and it is Wood who provides the breakthrough! This is bowled on a length around off, from wide of the crease. It pitches and skids through. Finch is beaten by pace as he tries to flick, he misses and gets hit low on the pads. The players appeal and the umpire straightaway raises his finger. Finch does not even think about reviewing it as he knows it is plumb. Hawk Eye confirms the same. Nevertheless, a brilliant innings by Aaron comes to an end. He has now laid the foundation for the ones coming in to capitalize. Can they? We will have to wait to watch.
Travis Headc David Willey b Adil Rashid 63 64 9 0 98.44
19.1
A Rashid to T Head, OUT! Rashid draws first blood! But Head just can't believe what he has done. It was a nothing delivery, short and the leg spinner on middle. Head could have probably hit it anywhere he wants but what does he do? He goes back, pulls it right off the middle but straight to the man at deep mid-wicket where David Willey accepts an easy catch. He looks at the skies in disbelief and then starts to trudge off after yet another start. Rashid too can't believe his luck. He though, won't care as he breaks the 101-run stand.
Shaun Marshc Craig Overton b David Willey 101 92 5 4 109.78
47.2
D Willey to S Marsh, OUT! What a catch! The scorecard will have Overton's name on it but it is Roy who has to be given all the credit. A slower ball by Willey is launched towards the latter at long on. He runs to his left and takes it. He then realises his momentum is taking him over the ropes and hence throws it up in the air towards Overton who comes running towards him from deep mid-wicket. He completes it to give Willey his second wicket in consecutive balls. Marsh walks back after playing another magnificent innings. However, England will be pleased to see the back of him as this could easily make a difference of 10 to 20 runs to the final score.
Marcus Stoinisb Mark Wood 1 2 0 0 50
39.5
M Wood to M Stoinis, OUT! Timber! Second in the over for Mark Wood and he is absolutely delighted. Once again it is the skid on the delivery which does Stoinis in. Mark comes running in and angles this into the off stump from a length. Marcus instead of playing forward goes back and tries to keep it out. The ball stays a touch low which proves to be Stoinis's undoing. He is late to get his bat down. It sneaks through and shatters the stumps behind. Marcus once again walks back cheaply and England are right back into the game.
Ashton Agarc Jos Buttler b Adil Rashid 19 15 3 0 126.67
44.3
A Rashid to A Agar, OUT! EDGED AND TAKEN! Rashid gets Agar once again! The googly does the trick as it is tossed outside off, spins away. Ashton goes back and tries to cut. The ball takes the outside edge and goes into the gloves off the keeper. He whips the bails off as he starts appealing and even before the umpire can raise his finger. Agar starts walking back. Australia losing their way here towards the end.
Alex Careyc Craig Overton b David Willey 6 5 1 0 120
47.1
D Willey to A Carey, OUT! Carey holes out! Willey gets his first! A low full toss on the leg stump, not the easiest of balls to put away and Carey just found out why. He tries to get underneath it but is not able to. He lofts it towards deep mid-wicket where Overton comes running in and takes it easily. The good thing though for Australia is the batsmen have crossed and Marsh is on strike.
Tim Paine (C) (W)lbw b David Willey 3 5 0 0 60
49.2
D Willey to Tim Paine, OUT! On a fuller length, from around the wicket. Willey rolls his fingers on this one. The batsman looks to play it across the line and hit it over the mid-wicket region but misses and the ball hits him on his back leg. The bowler appeals and the umpire raises the finger straightaway. Reviews are available but Paine chooses against it. Australia lose their 8th while Willey takes his fourth.
Michael Neserc Jos Buttler b David Willey 2 2 0 0 100
47.5
D Willey to M Neser, OUT! Another one bites the dust! Third in the over for Willey. He bowls a length ball around off, Neser makes room and tries to cut but he only manages to get a faint edge on it. Buttler behind the stumps makes no mistake.

Jason Royc Shaun Marsh b Nathan Lyon 101 83 12 2 121.69
23.4
N Lyon to J Roy, OUT! Lyon breaks through! How much did Australia need this? He tosses this up once again outside off, Roy looks to go big yet again. He fails to do so as the ball takes the outside edge and then goes towards short third man where Shaun Marsh takes it easily. End of the 174-run stand, the highest at Chester-le-Street. Roy walks off to a standing ovation as he has done his job. England need another 137.
Jonny Bairstow (W)c Tim Paine b Billy Stanlake 79 66 10 0 119.7
25.1
B Stanlake to J Bairstow, OUT! One brings two and that is exactly what Australia needed. The bowling change has done the trick as Billy Stanlake strikes off the very first ball of his new spell. It is a short ball outside off, Bairstow tries to guide it down to third man but it goes off the glove to the right of Paine who takes it with a dive. So no ton today for Bairstow as he falls 21 short. Can Australia take another quickly?
Alex Halesnot out 34 45 3 0 75.56
Joe Rootb Ashton Agar 27 35 2 1 77.14
34.5
A Agar to Joe Root, OUT! Root has been uprooted! You miss, I hit says Ashton Agar. Australia fighting hard here. This is fired on the stumps, Root tries to sweep it but misses the ball completely and sees the furniture behind get shattered. Joe falls after getting a start. England need another 83 from 91.
Eoin Morgan (C)c Tim Paine b Ashton Agar 15 11 2 0 136.36
36.6
A Agar to E Morgan, OUT! There is an edge! Morgan walks back and takes England's sole review along with him. Another wicket for Agar. He fires this one outside off. Morgan slashes at it and edges it to Paine who takes it and appeals. The umpire raises his finger but Morgan feels he has not hit it and goes for the review. Replays show there is a spike on Snicko and Eoin is given his marching orders. Australia still in it. England need another 67 in 78 balls with 6 wickets in hand.
