Matt Renshawc Virat Kohli b Umesh Yadav 44 69 7 0 63.77
22.3
U Yadav to Renshaw, OUT! Edged and gone this time! Umesh Yadav hurls across a back of a length ball just outside off, straightening a touch, Renshaw pushes inside the line without any footwork and outside edges it to first slip. A good low catch by Virat Kohli and it brings an end to a promising knock by Renshaw. Smith is not looking pleased with the shot that Matt attempted. A ball prior to this also he was trying to run it down to third man with a couple of slips in place. Very risky attempt and he has paid a big price for it.
David Warnerc & b Ravindra Jadeja 19 26 2 0 73.08
9.4
Jadeja to Warner, OUT! A real soft dismissal for Warner! Jadeja lets out a low full toss this time, Warner could have hit it anywhere in the field but ends up smashing it straight back. It's uppish and Jadeja shows great reflexes to catch it to his left. That was travelling. Brilliant from Jadeja. Australia lose their first wicket after a brisk start. A dejected Warner walks back to the pavilion.
Steven Smith (C)not out 178 361 17 0 49.31
Shaun Marshc Cheteshwar Pujara b Ravichandran Ashwin 2 8 0 0 25
25.1
R Ashwin to Marsh, OUT! Good review from India! Ashwin strikes and Australia are three down now. A flighted ball on middle, skidding down, Marsh gets forward with his bat and pad together in defense. He fails to keep it out and the ball pops out off his pads to short leg. Pujara reacts quickly to his left and takes the ball with a dive. They appeal vociferously but the umpire remains unmoved. The Indians are quite sure, Virat Kohli goes for the DRS and the replays confirm that there was a faint inside edge onto the pads. Brilliant catch too. Marsh probably was playing for the turn which was not there. Got deceived and hence is out of here.
Peter Handscomblbw b Umesh Yadav 19 47 2 0 40.43
42.2
Yadav to Handscomb, OUT! Handscomb is given lbw! A cracking delivery by Yadav, a toe crusher at 140 kph, Handscomb is beaten for pace and is late in bringing his bat down. It hits him flush on the left boot, they appeal and the finger goes up almost immediately. Peter decides not to review it after consulting his skipper and India finally manage to break the partnership. The replays show that it hit the batsman in line and was crashing on the leg stump.
Glenn Maxwellc Wriddhiman Saha b Ravindra Jadeja 104 185 9 2 56.22
101.2
R Jadeja to Maxwell, OUT! Jadeja strikes! He bowls it in the flatter trajectory around off and it spins away after kissing the turf, Maxwell goes back to punch it through the line but ends up getting a faint outside edge to Saha. He makes no mistake. Catches the ball and appeals. The finger goes up and Maxwell is already walking. End of an extraordinary knock and India will be relieved to break the 191-run stand. Jadeja is all pumped up.
Matthew Wade (W)c Wriddhiman Saha b Ravindra Jadeja 37 50 6 0 74
115.4
R Jadeja to Wade, OUT! Jadeja strikes again and he removes the dangerous looking Wade. Hurls a full ball outside off, 91 kph, turning in just a shade, Wade draws forward to defend, probably expecting it to turn a lot. But the ball skids through, take a faint outside edge and Saha grabs another sharp catch behind the stumps. End of a handy knock by the Australian wicketkeeper batsman.
Pat Cumminsb Ravindra Jadeja 0 2 0 0 0
115.6
R Jadeja to Cummins, OUT! Right through the gate! The crowd erupts in joy as Sir Jadeja gets rid of another batsman. Bowls it flatter through the air and pitches it on middle and leg. Cummins gets forward to defend but it spins away, beats the outside edge and shatters the stumps. What a terrific delivery to the new batsman. Cummins falls for a duck.
Steve O'Keefec Murali Vijay b Umesh Yadav 25 71 5 0 35.21
134.3
U Yadav to S O'Keefe, OUT! Change of boots does the trick? Don't know but India would take the wickets in any manner. Short delivery, chest height, Steve O'Keefe swivels across and pulls it straight to Murali Vijay at fine leg who gets low to cup it. India break the frustrating partnership.
Nathan Lyonc Karun Nair b Ravindra Jadeja 1 6 0 0 16.67
135.6
R Jadeja to N Lyon, OUT! Eighth fifer for Jadeja. He has been persistent throughout the day and he has got his rewards. Tossed up delivery outside off, Lyon prods forward to defend, but the ball bounces more than Lyon would've expected. Due to which the ball hits the upper half of the bat and goes straight to Karun Nair at silly point who crouched low, kept his eyes on the ball and grabbed it sharply.
Josh Hazlewoodrun out (Lokesh Rahul) 0 2 0 0 0
137.3
Jadeja to Hazlewood, OUT! Outstanding stuff from Jadeja to run out Hazlewood. Full floated ball on middle, Smith works it behind square leg and wants the second run. Hazlewood responds and rushes to his end. Meanwhile, Rahul collects the ball, fires in the throw at the non-striker's end and Jadeja collects it well ahead of the stumps. Now comes the magical part. Sir just back flicks the ball behind and scores the bull's eye. Hazlewood is found short of the crease in the replays and AUSTRALIA ARE ALL OUT FOR 451!

Lokesh Rahulc Matthew Wade b Pat Cummins 67 102 9 0 65.69
31.2
Pat Cummins to Rahul, OUT! Cummins strikes! Beautiful bowling. He bends his back and digs in a slower short ball, well-directed at the batsman, Rahul tries to sway away from the line of fire with a jump but it catches his gloves and goes safely to Wade. He catches it, Cummins turns to appeal and the finger goes up. KL starts to walk and Smith is hugging his bowler. Pat has bowled his heart out and finally gets some reward. Interestingly, Wade was not appealing. Anyway, Australia get the first breakthrough. India trail by 360 runs.
Murali Vijayst Matthew Wade b Steve O'Keefe 82 183 10 1 44.81
70.4
S O'Keefe to Vijay, OUT! Murali Vijay, what have you done? I will call that a brain fade. Tossed up around leg, Vijay comes down the track to play a big shot over mid-wicket but misses. Wade completes the regulation stumping. A disgruntled Vijay and Indian dressing room cannot believe what has happened. That is a very poor shot selection from MV who was playing tremendously well. Lunch on day 3.
Cheteshwar Pujarac Glenn Maxwell b Nathan Lyon 202 525 21 0 38.48
193.2
N Lyon to Pujara, OUT! The marathon innings comes to an end and it was an uncharacteristic shot. He was playing to the situation and sacrificed his wicket. Lyon bowled a shortish delivery, Che goes to nudge it over mid-wicket but doesn't get the shot right. Maxwell cups it easily at that position. And Cheteshwar Pujara has to depart. He does and to a standing ovation. Good gesture from the Aussies as they shake his hands.
Virat Kohli (C)c Steven Smith b Pat Cummins 6 23 0 0 26.09
80.4
Pat Cummins to V Kohli, OUT! Edged and gone! Another failure in the series for Virat Kohli. Cummins hunts down the big fish. He serves a full length ball just around off and gets it to nip away a shade, Kohli without any footwork attempts for a booming cover drive but edges it straight into the hands of the Aussie skipper at second slip. He catches it in front of his face and gets up in jubilation. A bit of banter from the visitors, as Steven Smith holds his left shoulder to mock the Indian captain. Interestingly, if Maxwell hadn't stopped the boundary earlier, Pujara would've been on strike. Little moments in the game. New ball does the trick for Australia. Meanwhile, the umpires get involved to calm things down.
Ajinkya Rahanec Matthew Wade b Pat Cummins 14 33 2 0 42.42
91.2
Pat Cummins to Rahane, OUT! A poor shot attempted by Ajinkya Rahane and he has paid a big price for it. Cummins delivers a short ball outside off, Rahane tries to play the upper cut but ends up getting a faint tickle to the keeper. Wade catches the ball, they appeal and the finger goes up. A dejected Rahane walks back. India losing the plot, they still trail by 175 runs.
Karun Nairb Josh Hazlewood 23 47 2 0 48.94
107.4
J Hazlewood to K Nair, OUT! ABSOLUTE RIPPER! Hazlewood comes wide of the crease and angles in a full ball outside off, tails in sharply to sneak between bat and pad to make a mess of the furniture behind him after brushing the back thigh. Hazlewood is pumped up and why not! The short ball off the previous delivery had probably kept Karun back in the crease. Beautifully set up.
Ravichandran Ashwinc Matthew Wade b Pat Cummins 3 22 0 0 13.64
115.4
Pat Cummins to Ashwin, OUT! ANOTHER CUMMINS SPECIAL! His extra pace is making the difference for Australia on this unresponsive surface. Digs in a bumper from around off, Ashwin tries to get out of the way as the ball flies through to Wade who takes it easily. The appeal for a catch is instantaneous from the Aussies but turned down. Smith opts for the review straightaway. Legal ball and replays indicate a bit of glove. Snickometer confirms it as well and Ashwin has to go. He isn't happy for some reason. Fourth wicket for Cummins - what a return to Test cricket!
Wriddhiman Saha (W)c Glenn Maxwell b Steve O'Keefe 117 233 8 1 50.21
196.1
S O'Keefe to W Saha, OUT! Saha departs after playing a top knock. O'Keefe serves a flighted full ball around leg, Saha makes room, advances down the track and tries to go inside-out over covers. But he fails to middle it and ends up handing a straightforward catch to Maxwell at short cover. The Indian wicketkeeper walks back amidst a big cheer from the crowd. India lead by 90 runs!

S O'Keefe to Yadav, OUT! SOK gets his third wicket. Loopy full ball around off, Yadav comes down the track to go over Warner at mid off but fails to get the timing right. He ends up giving a straightforward catch and walks to the pavilion. India lead by 144!

David Warnerb Ravindra Jadeja 14 16 3 0 87.5
5.1
R Jadeja to Warner, OUT! Cleaned him up. Quicker delivery which turns back in viciously after landing on the rough outside off and Warner is beaten all ends up. The ball doesn't disturb the bails but absolutely crashes the stumps as Warner looks to defend by crouching. The off stump is pegged back and the celebrations are ballistic. Kohli knows how the Australians mocked him and pats his shoulder to probably say who is the boss! Scenes all around. Steven Smith is flabbergasted in the dressing room and wants to look at the replays. David Warner walks off, yet another failure for him.
Matt Renshawlbw b Ishant Sharma 15 84 1 0 17.86
28.4
I Sharma to Renshaw, OUT! Renshaw is trapped in front and Ishant is all pumped up. He has won this battle and is mobbed by his teammates. Finally a wicket this morning for India. Smart bowling by Sharma, bowled a couple of short ones and this time hurls in a full length ball on off. Angling in and staying low, Renshaw gets forward to defend but misses and is hit on the front pad. Ishant roars in appeal and the umpire raises his finger. Matt has a chat with his skipper and decides not to take the DRS. The umpire quickly checks for the no ball but Ishant is fine with his landing. The banter seems to have put Renshaw off. Australia trail by 93 runs.
Nathan Lyonb Ravindra Jadeja 2 7 0 0 28.57

Jadeja to N Lyon, OUT! Bowled 'em! The nightwatchman departs. Probably it was too much to ask of Lyon to face Jadeja on a track that is spitting venom. Jadeja pitches this around middle, Nathan goes forward to defend but gets beaten by the turn. Out comes the off stump and Jadeja has his finger on the lips again. Just the start India wanted. Smith and Lehmann have a worried look in the dressing room. And that is it on day 4. Stumps!
Steven Smith (C)b Ravindra Jadeja 21 68 2 0 30.88
29.1
R Jadeja to Smith, OUT! Sound of timber and the crowd erupts. Jadeja is up and running in celebration. He lands a full ball just around leg on the rough. Smith takes his front leg forward a bit and thinks he has covered the spin. But to his disappointment, the ball curls away and goes on to uproot the off stump. The Indian players know the importance of this wicket and are celebrating big time. Smith walks back dejected. The Ranchi crowd has gone bonkers. It's a massive blow to Australia.
Shaun Marshc Murali Vijay b Ravindra Jadeja 53 197 7 0 26.9
91.2
R Jadeja to Marsh, OUT! A bit too late? Nonetheless, India have broken the partnership. Tossed up delivery around middle, bounces a bit more as Marsh gets forward to defend. The late bounce catches him by surprise and his front foot block goes straight to Murali Vijay at forward short leg. The 124-run stand has been broken after an effort of more than 62 overs! A partnership which has probably taken the match towards a draw.
