Ishant Sharma took a brilliant five-wicket haul as Deccan Chargers beat Kochi Tuskers Kerala by 55 in their Indian Premier League match at Kochi.   

 

Set 130 for victory, Kochi were bowled out for 74 in 16.3 overs. Only three batsmen reached double-figures.

 

Ravindra Jadeja’s resistance ended when he was caught by Daniel Christian for 23, as Kochi slipped to 74 for eight in 16 overs. Kochi need a further 56 runs to win from four overs with two wickets in hand.

 

Manpreet Gony dismissed Thisara Perera, after the Sri Lankan all-rounder added 36 runs for the seventh wicket with Jadeja to stabilize a stuttering Kochi innings.

 

Deccan pacer Ishant Sharma rattled Kochi by scalping five early wickets, which left them reeling at 11 for six in four overs. 

 

Sharma struck in two consecutive deliveries to dismiss Parthiv Patel and Ralphi Gomez in his first over. Kochi slipped further when Brad Hogde was bowled by Sharma in his next, and he then added more to Kochi’s woes trapping Kedar Jadhav lbw in front of the wicket for a duck.

 

Brendon McCullum was removed by Dale Steyn for a duck in the first over. McCullum, who was attempting to attack right from the first ball was caught by Kumar Sangakkara.

 

Earlier, Sangakkara clobbered a sizzling half-century to  help Deccan Chargers post a score 129 for 7 in its allotted 20 overs in their Indian Premier League match against Kochi Tuskers Kerala at Kochi. Sangakkara’s defiant knock enabled Deccan fightback after Kochi rocked them with three early wickets.
