Fakhar Zamanb Mitchell Santner 54 75 7 1 72
23.1
M Santner to F Zaman, OUT! Just the breakthrough the Black Caps wanted! Is that some new variation from Santner? Haven't seen that before. Oh yes, it is. A carrom ball. Santner bowls it out of nowhere. Lands it outside leg, Zaman comes dancing down the track but fails to put any bat to it. It spins away a touch and hits the leg stump. All the pressure created by the spinners in the last 3 overs where only 8 runs came has paid rich dividends in the form of a wicket. Zaman fails to convert this into big innings!
Faheem Ashrafc Tom Latham b Tim Southee 1 4 0 0 25
2.3
Tim Southee to F Ashraf, OUT! The experiment to open with Ashraf flops as he gets undone by the extra bounce. Southee hits the deck hard outside off on a shortish length. Ashraf goes for the cut but finds the outside edge due to the extra lift from the surface. It's easily taken behind by Tom Latham. Kane Williamson talked about the extra bounce at this venue and it's on display. Not the start the Men in Green would have hoped for!
Babar Azamc Tom Latham b Tim Southee 3 9 0 0 33.33
4.4
Tim Southee to B Azam, OUT! Southee has struck for the second time. Babar Azam is back in the hut. The Kiwi pacer gets some shape behind that ball. He pitches it up full outside off, Azam goes for the drive away from his body and nicks it behind to Latham who completes another easy catch. Southee is bowling his heart out in the first spell. He got some extra bounce in the first wicket and in this one, a bit of away movement worked in his favour. Top class bowling by the experienced campaigner. Pakistan are on the back foot after losing two early wickets.
Haris Sohailc Henry Nicholls b Kane Williamson 50 74 4 1 67.57
30.1
K Williamson to H Sohail, OUT! Another batsman fails to convert his start. Williamson tosses this outside off, Sohail comes charging down the wicket and times his inside-out shot really well. But he would have liked to go over extra cover there. Ends up hitting it over covers and straight down to Henry Nicholls in the deep. A big wicket for the Black Caps as Sohail was looking good in the middle.
Mohammad Hafeezrun out (Trent Boult) 81 80 5 4 101.25
49.6
T Boult to M Hafeez, OUT! Pinpoint yorker on middle, Hafeez keeps it out besides the pitch on the leg side and sets off. Boult is quick as lightning. Dives to his right, collects the ball, turns and aims at the bowler's end and hits the bull's eye. Hafeez was not even in the frame. PAKISTAN FINISH ON 262/8!
Shoaib Malikc Mitchell Santner b Kane Williamson 6 8 1 0 75
32.2
K Williamson to S Malik, OUT! Shoaib Malik holes out. Williamson with his second wicket. He tosses it up around middle, Malik uses his feet with the intention to send it into the stand at long on. However, the ball spins back in a touch to gather the inside half of the bat. No proper connection means it flies in the deep and gets caught by Santner. The Kiwi captain is doing it for his team with the ball.
Sarfraz Ahmed (C) (W)c Martin Guptill b Trent Boult 51 46 3 3 110.87
47.4
T Boult to S Ahmed, OUT! Smart piece of bowling from Boult brings in the reward! End of an enterprising knock from the skipper and also the 98-run stand. On a length at 111.5 kph, angling across Ahmed. He clears his front leg and goes for a hoick over mid-wicket but gets a leading edge that balloons towards backward point. Guptill stationed there is safe as houses. Boult gets his first wicket.
Hasan Alic Martin Guptill b Tim Southee 1 3 0 0 33.33
48.4
Tim Southee to H Ali, OUT! This is bowling according to the field and reaping the dividends as a result! Ali uses his feet and Southee smartly rolls his fingers on this one. The tailender goes through with his heave and doesn't get it off the meat of the bat. The ball swirls in the sky and Guptill in the deep mid-wicket region pouches it safely.

Martin Guptillc Hasan Ali b Shadab Khan 31 49 3 0 63.27
15.1
S Khan to M Guptill, OUT! Shadab gets his man! Two quick wickets for Pakistan and they are all charged up. Guptill is undone by the wrong one. Floated up on middle and Martin looks to heave this over long on but fails to clear the fielder. Hasan Ali stationed in the deep takes a simple catch. New Zealand in need of a partnership now.
Colin Munroc Mohammad Hafeez b Shadab Khan 56 42 8 2 133.33
13.6
S Khan to C Munro, OUT! Pakistan have their first wicket. And it is the dangerous Colin Munro. Shadab Khan has done the trick for Pakistan. Tossed up, on middle and off, spins into Munro who looks to sweep this over square leg but doesn't time it well and gets a top edge to it. The ball flies to the deep square leg fielder, Hafeez, who takes a good catch. Much-needed breakthrough for Pakistan and a well-played innings from Munro comes to an end. Kane Williamson walks in next.
Kane Williamson (C)c Rumman Raees b Haris Sohail 32 54 1 0 59.26
34.6
H Sohail to K Williamson, OUT! It's a clean catch from Raees to send the Kiwi skipper packing. This is a big, big breakthrough for the visitors. Floated up, in the line of the stumps, Williamson goes after this against the spin and hits it over mid on but hasn't connected as well as he would have liked to. Raees positions himself near the ropes to perfection. Takes his hands over his head and grabs a terrific catch. The balance was spot on there. You got to be ice cool to grab catches like these and the pace bowler was certainly cool as a cucumber. Pakistan right back in the contest. New Zealand need 109 from 90 balls with five wickets in hand.
Ross Taylorlbw b Rumman Raees 1 4 0 0 25
16.2
R Raees to R Taylor, OUT! Taylor is a goner. Another wicket for Pakistan and they are on a roll here. Three wickets in quick succession. And they get the in-form Ross Taylor. Length ball on off, comes back into Ross who gets across the stumps and looks to flick it away. But he misses the ball and it goes to hit his pads. The Pakistan players appeal and the finger goes up. Taylor thinks about the review but Williamson is not too convinced and hence Ross walks back. Not a happy 200th game for him! Meanwhile, the Kiwis are in a spot of bother now.
Tom Latham (W)c Babar Azam b Shadab Khan 8 16 1 0 50
19.4
S Khan to Tom Latham, OUT! The fourth wicket has fallen and suddenly Pakistan have gained the upper hand. Shadab Khan again! Taking the game away from the Kiwis. Quicker one this time, around off and skidding away from the batsman. Latham rocks back and looks to cut this square of the wicket on the off side. But he is beaten for pace and edges it behind to first slip. Babar Azam takes a sharp catch to his left. The leggie is flying high. He alone has turned this game on its head.
