Jason Royc Aaron Finch b Pat Cummins 19 24 4 0 79.17
6.6
Pat Cummins to J Roy, OUT! The extra ball fetches a wicket for Australia! The dangerous Jason Roy is gone. A length ball outside off, pretty much similar to the ones Roy has been punching and driving so far in this innings, but this time, the opener looks to go over the top. That man at extra cover has been irritating Roy for quite a while now and he feels he has a chance, as a man moved from the off side towards first slip, meaning there was just that small gap. Roy looked to go over the top but Aaron Finch at short extra cover timed his leap to perfection to take the catch. Roy just stands there in disappointment before trudging off.
Jonny Bairstowb Adam Zampa 39 57 2 0 68.42
18.5
A Zampa to J Bairstow, OUT! A typical leg spinner's dismissal! Set up the batsman by tossing up a leggie outside off and then inflate his ego by conceding a boundary. Play on the ego next ball by floating a googly, inviting the drive. Now depending on who is the winner - the batsman's self restraint or the ego - you will be rewarded. On this occasion, Bairstow is unable to resist. Goes after the googly, looking to drive but does not read it at all. Misses it all ends up and the ball spins back in to hit the timber. That will give Zampa's confidence a huge boost. Right from the books of Shane Warne.
Alex Halesc Adam Zampa b Marcus Stoinis 1 8 0 0 12.5
9.4
M Stoinis to A Hales, OUT! Hales falls cheaply! Stoinis roars. He has struck in his very first over. A nothing shot from Hales, to be honest. Both he and Roy have just thrown their wickets away. The line is straight and the length is full. For some reason, Hales looks to go over the top and mistimes it. The ball lands straight into the lap of Adam Zampa lapping the ground from mid on to his left. No need of this shot, England were going pretty decently. The frustration of scoring just 1 from 7 balls got to Hales. Replays show the bat twisting in his hand.
Joe Rootb Josh Hazlewood 27 31 1 0 87.1
22.2
J Hazlewood to Joe Root, OUT! Chopped on! Don't be surprised if this will be the first of many dismissals in this fashion in this entire game. Hazlewood angles it on a length outside off and Root looks to run it down to third man. Is too close to the ball and gets a thick inside edge onto his stumps. Big wicket for Australia. This is the first time Root has been dismissed in this series.
Eoin Morgan (C)c Tim Paine b Josh Hazlewood 41 50 2 1 82
34.6
J Hazlewood to E Morgan, OUT! EDGED AND TAKEN! Hazlewood gets the breakthrough. A much-needed one for Australia. He lands it on a length around off, makes use of the angle as he gets it away from the batsman. Morgan does not need to play at those but he still does so. He tries to guide it down to third man but gets a faint outside edge to the keeper who takes it and appeals. Eoin walks straightaway and Josh is pumped. The 65-run stand has been broken and Morgan walks back dejected, 9 short of his half ton. A good innings by the English skipper, he rode his luck but could not make it big. Nevertheless, Australia will now try and capitalize.
Jos Buttler (W)not out 100 83 6 4 120.48
Moeen Alib Mitchell Marsh 6 12 0 0 50
38.1
M Marsh to M Ali, OUT! Drags it on! The second batsman to do so. The dropped chance does not cost Australia a lot. Marsh gets his man. He bowls it a touch short outside off, not very short though. Ali goes for the pull but gets a bottom edge which kisses the off pole. Ali walks back and his struggle comes an end. He never got used to the pace of the pitch. Poor by the left-hander, England needed him to stay out there with Buttler. Australia though won't mind as they have two quick wickets and they are right on top here. Another low score for Ali, it is turning out to be a forgetful tour for him with the bat.

A Rashid to A Finch, OUT! Umpire's call and Finch has to walk back! A huge, huge wicket! Aaron Finch's magical stay comes to an end. Rashid tosses it on leg stump, and it straightens. Finch goes for the sweep shot which he has played ever so well but this time he misses to get hit on the pads. The English players appeal, Rashid is actually pleading there. After a long though, the umpire raises his finger. Finch immediately reviews and why not he is Australia's in form batsman. They go upstairs and replays show there is no inside edge. Hawk Eye shows it is clipping leg. The on-field call stays and a timely wicket for England. Finch walks back after a very good half century but the home sided needed more from him. The 69-run stand has been broken and the away side will now look to take command of the game. The hosts are 200 away.
David Warnerc Alex Hales b Chris Woakes 8 10 2 0 80
3.5
C Woakes to D Warner, OUT! Woakes draws first blood! Warner bags another failure. Woakes bowls the slower ball, an off cutter outside off. Warner tries to punch it through the off side but is done in by the slowness off the wicket. He hits it uppishly to Hales at cover-point who takes one of the easiest catches he will ever get. Good change of pace by Woakes. He did it with the bat first and now gives England an early wicket and also a big one. They are ecstatic and now they would look to put a lid on the scoring.
Cameron Whitec Jos Buttler b Mark Wood 17 25 3 0 68
8.3
M Wood to C White, OUT! GONE! There goes the second one! Wood gets his first. He bangs it short outside off, not very short. White tries to force it through the off side, he went at it with hard hands but only manages to get a faint outside edge to the keeper who takes it and appeals. The umpire raises his finger. White was looking really good out there but has to make the long walk back. The English men are pumped up and Australia in trouble as they need another 259 runs.
Steven Smith (C)c Jos Buttler b Mark Wood 45 66 1 0 68.18
33.6
M Wood to S Smith, OUT! The umpire's call stays! Is that the game? Wood is running around in frenzy. Outside off, on a length, Smith flashes hard and gets a thick outside edge. The ball dips onto Buttler who takes it with one glove inches above the turf and then claims the catch. Smith starts to walk initially but then the umpires make him wait. It is referred upstairs with the soft signal as out and after numerous replays, eventually, the third umpire declares it as OUT. Now, whether he felt that it carried or was he not sure, hence went with the onfield call, one never knows. But Smith has to go.
Mitchell Marshc Alex Hales b Adil Rashid 55 66 4 0 83.33
38.3
A Rashid to M Marsh, OUT! Marsh gives it away! That seals the game, one would imagine. A short ball, outside off, there to be hit, Marsh sits back to pull it with all his might but these are long boundaries at the SCG. He only succeeds in finding Alex Hales at widish mid-wicket. Marsh does it again. Gets in, settles and then throws it away. 93 needed from 69 balls for a miraculous win for the Aussies.
Marcus Stoinisc sub b Chris Woakes 56 43 3 2 130.23

C Woakes to M Stoinis, OUT! Finds the man. It was always going to be too difficult for only one person to do it for Australia and Stoinis has fallen. A short ball, Stoinis pulls it over square leg but finds the substitute Sam Billings in the deep. A calm and cool catch taken. Stoinis is disappointed. They do not even bother to cross.
