“What gets me going is finishing games for the team. Being there at the end, there is nothing more rewarding than that. When you talk about stats and milestones at the end of a career; that is something that I will look back on,” De Villiers said.

The skipper however said that the bowlers could’ve done a better job to dismiss the Kiwis early. After having them nine down with just over 150 on board, the Proteas allowed the Kiwis to share a 74-run last wicket stand between Trent Boult and Luke Ronchi. Ronchi was eventually dismissed for 99.
