South African bowling legend and bowling coach Allan Donald said Virat Kohli reminded him of Sachin Tendulkar in his prime.

He said Kohli reminded him of how Sachin countered his bowling in 1996 even when the chips were down  and despite Donald taunting India at the time saying  that they ” lacked bottle “.

He said the conditions were good for his bowling and that there was a hint of swing but he was reasonably happy with his bowlers’ efforts on Day 1, although he did admit that the South Africans were sloppy in patches.

He credited the Kohli and co. in particular for knowing went to leave and capitalizing on the loose deliveries but on the whole he was satisfied with his bowlers’ efforts.
