Australia A finished on a decent total of 288 for seven after half-centuries from James Faulkner and Peter Forrest rescued the side from a shaky start to a position of relative command at stumps on Day  1 of the second unofficial test against India A at the Allan Border field at Brisbane.

The 133-run partnership came after the hosts were 66 for the loss of three wickets. That was however the only strong point of the match as India A’s Umesh Yadav and Amit Mishra kept taking wickets at regular intervals.
