Australia’s young up and coming batsman Ben McDermott talks about his experience with the Australian Under-19 side, which has been in India for the last month.
He said India has been a good place to tour with the Under-19s and getting used to playing in these conditions. He also talked about the atmosphere in India for cricket matches.
McDermott, who also is a wicketkeeper, said it was important to get used to the spinning conditions in India. He also talks about the mental conditioning that goes along with playing cricket.
He said that former Australia captain Greg Chappell talks to the Under-19 group about the mental aspect of the game a lot. McDermott said the most challenging aspect about playing in India is to cope with the heat.
He also said that Brad Haddin has given him tips on wicket-keeping. He said he looked up to Haddin in his younger days and learns a lot from just watching him.
