All-rounder Shane Watson slammed a quickfire ton to guide Australia to an easy win over the West Indies in their opening warm-up tie of the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy at Cardiff on Saturday.
Chasing a competitive total of 257, Australia got off to a disastrous start losing their first two wickets with only four runs on the board. Opener David Warner and Phil Hughes were both caught behind for duck off pacer Kemar Roach’s bowling in the second over of their innings.
However, Watson combined with vice-captain George Bailey to add 68 runs for the third wicket to resurrect Australia’s innings.
