England thrashed Pakistan by 330 runs in the second Test at Old Trafford, Manchester. Pakistan were set a target of 565 runs to win, and were bundled out for just 234 in their second innings. England bowled Pakistan out for just 198 after England had scored 589 for 8 in their first innings. Jo Root was England’s start with the bat, scoring a career-best score of 254. Skipper Alastair Cook to looked in good form, scoring 105 opening the innings. England’s bowlers too were in good form. Chris Woakes the pick of the bowlers once again, finishing with four wickets in the first innings. Misbah-ul-Haq scored fifty for Pakistan. Despite having a 391-run first innings lead, England decided not to enforce the follow-on. They scored 173 in just 30 overs and set Pakistan a target of 565. Cook and root once again scoring unbeaten fifties.  Pakistan found getting things going right from the beginning and fell short by 33o runs. England kept chipping away with regular wickets and as a result, Pakistan never had any sort of momentum in their innings.  James Anderson, Moeen Ali and Woakes picked up three wickets apiece in the second innings to hand England a huge win. With this win, England have leveled the series after suffering a 75-run loss at Lord’s in the first Test. The next Test is scheduled to be played Edgbaston, Birmingham. T is a crucial match for both sides as a win for either side will mean that they cannot lose the series, regardless of what happens in the fourth and final Test.
