VVS Laxman praised Bangladesh‘s spirited performance on Day Three of the ongoing one-off Test versus India. Resuming the day at 41 for 1, visitors were trailing India’s first innings score by 646 runs. They were reduced to 109 for 4, but all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan and skipper Mushfiqur Rahim rescued the side with their half-centuries. Laxman was in awe of the senior pro’s efforts, as the duo added 107 runs for the fifth wicket. He reckoned that Shakib deserved a century. However, he was beaten by Ravichandran Ashwin’s delivery, as he enticed the batsman for a glory shot. Laxman even praised the efforts of youngster Mehedi Hasan and captain for sticking in the middle. Mehedi is unbeaten on 51, with Rahim batting at 81. The duo have added 87 for the seventh wicket, taking Bangladesh to a better position.

Laxman added that India’s skipper Virat Kohli and his team will have to step up and fold Bangladesh’s innings soon to press for a big win. For now, India still are in a commanding position with a lead of 365 runs under their belt.
