India’s ace spinner, Ravichandran Ashwin has received the Polly Umrigar award for being the best international cricketer from India last year. In 2012-13, he claimed 43 wickets and 263 runs.


The award comprises of a trophy and a cheque of Rs 5 lacs.


According to off-spinner, his dream has come true. He said after receiving the award, “I am extremely blessed and honoured to be standing in this stage where some of the real legends of Indian cricket have been feliciatated.”


Earlier, this award has been won twice by Sachin Tendulkar and once each by Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Rahul Dravid and Virat Kohli.
