Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Sanjay Patel assured that the Indian governing body was not playing a power game and that it had a certain agenda that would help in the development of the game while okaying International Cricket Council’s three tier policy.
The BCCI wants to confirm India as the biggest money making power in the cricketing world during the Dubai meeting and also is expected to push for a 70 per cent share in the ICC’s new profit sharing model.
The Indian cricket board is expected to convince the ICC to scrap the idea of a ICC Test Championship and continue on with the ICC Champions Trophy in its place instead, since they feel that the tournament has a massive fan following across Indian fans throughout the world.
Also according to reports from the finance committee, members were informed that the BCCI had almost doubled its profits from the Indian Premier League’s (IPL) sixth edition held in 2013 than the fifth edition which was held in 2012.
