Australia skipper Steven Smith was a satisfied man after getting a victory in his maiden Test as a captain at the end of the second Test against India at Brisbane, showering praises on his team-mates during the post-match press conference. Smith played a captain’s knock during Australia’s first innings, scoring 133 runs from 191 balls to help the hosts gain a 97-run lead at the end of the first innings. India were knocked out for a total of 224 to hand Australia a simple 128-run target, which the hosts chased down with four wickets and a day to spare.
“Extremely satisfying to be very honest. It was a very tough first day, and the way the boys came out and bowled in the second morning was outstanding. We thought if we got the ball in the right area enough, we create chances, and we did that. The way the tail played was amazing to get us into that position,” Smith was quoted as saying at the press conference.
