VIDEO: Brian Lara assures Dominica PM Roosevelt Skerrit of further aid from Trinidad and Tobago

Dominica's economy has been ravaged by the tropical storm Erika.

Brian Lara, the Special Envoy of the new Trinidad and Tobago Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley, has given his assurance to the Dominicans that there is more aid to come for them from the neighbourhood republic of Trinidad and Tobago. The aid is to help Dominica recover from the devastating Erika tropical storm that ravaged the tiny country in August. Lara toured some of the worst-affected areas along with Dominican prime minister Roosevelt Skerrit in order to gain a first-hand insight into the wreckage. According to caribbean360.com Lara told Skerrit that the Trinidad and Tobago Prime Minister Rowley was very concerned about the devastation that had come about and “he’s willing to give a lot more. The tropical storm Erika which struck on August 27 claimed upwards of 30 lives and some are still reported missing. To go with the tragedy of loss of life, there has been terrible loss in form of property. The infrastructure in the country, including but not limited to roads, bridges and buildings have collapsed due to the pressure created by floods and landslides.

Lara is also going to be part of a charity fixture alongside names like Darren Sammy, Jason Holder, Curtly Ambrose and Dwight Yorke among others to raise funds for the country. The match has been organised by West Indies Cricket Board in collaboration with University of West Indies.
