ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 may have ended last Sunday, but the fever is not getting off us anytime soon. The tournament provided us some memorable moments which we will never forget; there were many more related to Sachin Tendulkar, which we ought to experience once again. Devarchit Varma lists down the top five.

You cannot keep Sachin Tendulkar away from cricket, can you? From batting chart topper in World Cup 1996 to Player of the Tournament in ICC Cricket World Cup 2003 to being the greatest inspiration for whole of India to win the mega event four years ago in ICC Cricket World Cup 2011, Tendulkar has one or the other way managed to hog the limelight every single time when it is about cricket’s biggest showpiece event on the earth.

Sachin Tendulkar remained a key figure in ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 from being the brand ambassador of the mega tournament held in Australia and New Zealand to predicting the final four spot on, the Little Master proved once again that the cricket fraternity will continue to get blessed from the ‘God’, even if he is away from the cricket field. Let’s take a look at the top five Sachin Tendulkar moments from ICC Cricket World Cup 2015:

1. Sachin Tendulkar’s wish to Team India: As the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 impended, talks about various ‘favourites’ and India’s ability to defend the title grew, there were many former cricketers talking about Team India’s prospect. There were many people who did not feel India would do well, and there were just a couple who felt MS Dhoni’s brigade would do well. Away from the good and the bad, Sachin Tendulkar did what he does the best: sending out a message to the Indian cricket team, wishing them luck, and in a way that neither raising expectations from the Indian cricket, and nor putting any kind of unwanted pressure on them. Sachin Tendulkar set a fine example of how former cricketers should ideally go about, and once again he stole the hearts.

2. Sachin Tendulkar at Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG): The iconic ground in Australia hosted one of the biggest matches of ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 between India and South Africa, who were deemed red-hot favourites for this edition. As expected, Indian cricket fans turned up in large numbers and outnumbered South African fans. The brilliant start provided by Shikhar Dhawan and Virat Kohli (after Rohit Sharma’s early dismissal) had set fans on fire, and MCG could be mistaken for an Indian cricket ground when the cameras focussed on Sachin Tendulkar. The Little Master reached the ground late, but was in time for Dhawan’s century. Sachin Tendulkar joined the fans in the frenzy when he pulled out his mobile phone for a ‘selfie’, sending more joy to the fans back home.

3. Sachin Tendulkar wishing top performers, every single time: If there is praise coming from someone like Sachin Tendulkar, it makes a hell lot of difference to the young as well as experienced cricketers around the world. The Indian cricket legend never missed out wishing the top performers as the World Cup progressed, be it the young side under the splendid Brendon McCullum or be it the venerable duo of Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardene. Sachin Tendulkar was always among the ones to say a word or two good about the cricketers who were battling out there. Like a true sportsman, Sachin Tendulkar did not shy away from praising the Australians Steven Smith, Aaron Finch and Mitchell Johnson when they combined forces to send India out of the tournament.

4. Sachin Tendulkar predicting final four spot on: Sachin Tendulkar is regarded no less than a ‘God’ all over the world, and the former cricketer once again proved why he is revered all over the world. It was his stupefying prediction of the four semi-finalists that made the world go raving once about his cricketing expertness. Even before the tournament Sachin Tendulkar had predicted that India, Australia, South Africa and New Zealand will be the four teams for the second-last round in ICC Cricket World Cup 2015. Once this was confirmed, Sachin Tendulkar once again was back in the headlines for being terribly accurate!

5. Massive cheer for Sachin Tendulkar at MCG and the Glenn Maxwell hug: It is understandable when a venue as huge as the MCG erupts in cheers when Sachin Tendulkar is announced in presence of Indian cricket fans. But the same is not expected during a match between Australia and New Zealand. Far off from what was expected, the 95,000+ crowd that booed International Cricket Council (ICC) chairman N Srinivasan suddenly turned into a joyous one when Sachin Tendulkar was announced in the party for the presentation ceremony.

That was not all. Away from the glare of the cameras and telecast, as Sachin Tendulkar had earlier walked out to the field for the ceremony, he was hugged en route by Glenn Maxwell, who was at that time involved in an interview alongside a teammate. The camaraderie between players was once again at display, as Maxwell and Sachin Tendulkar had played in the Indian Premier League (IPL) earlier. The gesture shown by Maxwell was a hit among the Indian fans but sadly got buried under the wrath against the Australian cricket team — which was largely due to their aggressive attitude shown on the field.
