Umpire Vineet Kulkarniâs name will be probably written with golden ink in the history of Indian cricket. Since the series between India and South Africa has begun, Kulkarni has been in the limelight more than the players. Itâs very rare when an umpire gains so much popularity. It all started after he misjudged the leg before wicket (LBW) appeal of JP Duminy, which led his name in top trending names of Twitter during the first Twenty20 International (T20I) match between India and South Africa. This didnât end there; Kulkarni continued with his baffling decisions in the first One-Day International as well, the Shikhar Dhawan LBW could have been ruled in Indiaâs favour, taking the height factor into consideration.
Ever since the India-South Africa series begun, Kulkarni has found himself trending on Twitter with most Indian fans believing that he is one of the prime reasons for Indiaâs recent defeats. On Tuesday, The Hindu reported that the Indian team management has lodged a complaint against Kulkarni due to âincompetent supervision.â
Clearly it seems that at the moment, he is the chief villain for Indian cricket. Inspired by these recent event, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) decided to make a movie portraying his story of baffling umpiring decisions. The movie is inspired by the 2014 Sidharth Malhotra starrer romantic-thriller Ek Villain, which was directed by Mohit Suri.
Similarly, this movie will start with Kulkarniâs love for the game of cricket and how he aspired to be an Indian cricketer. However he lost in the race of talent and ended up being an umpire. Holding a grudge against the current Indian players, Kulkarni decided to take his revenge on them with his biased decisions. Thatâs how began his current trend. The movie is expected to be an instant hit.
Please note this is a humour article â work of pure fiction
