Breaking News: Angry Martin Guptill walks out of Mumbai Indians camp to return as ‘Martin Gohil’

New Zealand’s maverick opening batsman Martin Guptill has decided to walk out of the Mumbai Indians’ (MI) camp after not getting enough opportunities to feature in the playing XI. Guptill was drafted in to the Mumbai Indians’ side after Caribbean cricketer Lendl Simmons was ruled out of the tournament following a mistimed injury. Unfortunately, the elegant right-handed New Zealander just got a solitary game against the best bowling attack in the tournament — against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) — in which he floundered. Mumbai Indians have persisted with Parthiv Patel, who has rather had an ordinary outing in 10 games so far. Parthiv, in his 10 games, averages just over 17. Guptill seems to be frustrated with this move and feels justice has not been in done and his good form is going for a toss. He was quoted saying, “I’m surely a better batsman than Parthiv and can get the team to a flying start. Parthiv is short and unequipped to tackle short deliveries. I’ve been a prolific run-scorer and my pristine form is being wasted. Add Cricket Country as a Preferred Source

Guptill further cited the reason behind Parthiv being a mainstay in the side and said the MI team is owned by Reliance Industries namely Neeta Ambani who is a Gujarati. Guptill revealed that Parthiv being a Gujarati again has been backed by members from the same community. He also lashed at Hardik and Krunal Pandya.

Guptill further said, “Just because Parthiv belongs to a Gujarati fraternity he’s been getting a nod ahead of him. Or else I don’t find any valid reason behind this erratic move. In fact, my records in T20 format is much better than our skipper Rohit Sharma. MI have also given enough chances to Pandya brothers out of which Krunal has justified his selection but Hardik didn’t.”

Guptill has a solution of making it to the team as he has now planned to go back to New Zealand and get his name changed to ‘Martin Gohil’ and transform into Gujarati. The process will take sometime and Guptill is sure that with this he will be able to cement his spot in the MI lineup.

Guptill said, “I’ve been thinking about this for a long time and finally made up my mind to get converted into a Gujarati and will also change my name to ‘Martin Gohil’. Hopefully, this move pays off and I get some more games in the next season.”

Shocked Unmukt Chand

Following this move from Guptill, another talented cricketer Unmukt Chand has given this idea a thought. He is yet to feature in this seasons’s IPL as too much has been invested in Hardik. Chand has not spoken anything on his conversion but said he might give it a thought if an chance is not offered to him in the upcoming games.
