Breaking: On MS Dhoni’s behest, Rising Pune Supergiants rope in Sri Sri Ravishankar as consultant

Pune and Indian Premier League (IPL) somehow do not go together. Once there was a franchise from the city named Pune Warriors India, which was disowned by its residents after shambolic performance match after match. With a new franchise coming to the city with MS Dhoni as leader, the Puneites had great hopes from season 9 of the T20 extravaganza. But at the half-way stage, same script (sorry MSD, we know you believe there is no script in cricket) seems to be unfolding, as the Rising Pune Supergiants (RPS) are performing worse than their name. With just two wins from eight games, the RPS are languishing at the bottom. Even the ‘Saam-daam-dand-bhed’ do not seem to be working for them. But now, their fortunes are going to change.

According to the latest report, RPS have appointed noted spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravishankar as their consultant on skipper Dhoni’s request. It is notable here that it was Sri Sri, as he is fondly known as, behind India’s win against Pakistan during the ICC World T20 last month. The leader had tweeted to Dhoni saying things went as per the conversation between them. Recently, when Dhoni was asked in a press-conference whether poor bowling was responsible for his team’s losses, captain cool had responded in his typical calm and composed demeanour that it was the ‘communication-gap’ between him and Sri Sri that was responsible for RPS’ losses. And with Sri Sri joining the RPS support staff, there is no way RPS will lose any single match here on.

A source close to RPS think-tank said on the condition of anonymity that the management is assured of IPL title win now that Sri Sri has joined forces with them. “He is the same man who has helped India win the 1983 World Cup, same man who has helped Brazil win the FIFA World Cup five times, same man who helped Seth Rollins win the WWE title and the same man who helped Leicester City win the English Premier League (EPL) for the first time recently. Sri Sri can do no wrong. We are confident the conversations between him and Dhoni will yield desired results and we shall win the IPL.”

Sri Sri may have joined the team only now, but his effect was rubbing on Dhoni even before he joined. The skipper, who is an ardent follower of Sri Sri and his ‘Art of Leaving’, did not mind leaving out Irfan Pathan from the side for no apparent reason. Both Dhoni and Sri Sri were unavailable for comments on this new development. Last heard, both were locked in a room planning for the upcoming match. Dhoni, it is learnt, is focusing more on the conversations with Sri Sri than practicing.

Please note this is a humour article — work of pure fiction.
