The Dolphins and the Perth Scorchers battle it out in the fourth match of the ongoing Champions League Twenty20.  Amit Banerjee lists some of the interesting duels that are likely to take place in the encounter.

With the qualifying round over, the group matches of the ongoing Champions League Twenty20 has got off to a flying start, with some breathtaking contests being witnessed so far in the three matches that have taken place so far. Both teams carry the honour of being the winners of the latest editions of their respective domestic T20 tournaments and will look forward to registering a win in their opening encounter of the tournament. The literal clash of the giants is expected to yield some interesting contests between the players on either side. Following are some of the battles that are likely to emerge:

Powered By

Daryn Smit vs Mitchell Marsh: While Smit had been consistent with the bat Sunfoil series will also keep the wickets for the side, Marsh emerged a pick among the Australia ‘A’ bowlers in the recent Quadrangular tournament.

Morne van Wyk vs Brad Hogg: Aside from being the oldest members of largely young teams, the two are also probably the most reliable banks of runs and wickets respectively. While the Dolphins captain van Wyk has been successful with the bat in the South Africa’s domestic event, Brad Hogg is one man who simply refuses to grow old.

Vaughn van Jaarsveld vs Yasir Arafat: While the recent Quadrangular series in Australia witnessed a decline in form for van Jaarsveld, the reliable southpaw has an above-par average in the domestic circut. Yasir Arafat on the other hand had a good outing at the Royal London One-Day Cup, England’s domestic ODI tournament.

Adam Voges vs Kyle Abbott: Another pair of important names in both teams. While Voges is among the seniors at the Scorchers and will look to redeem a loss of form in the recent Caribbean Premier League T20 tournament, Abbott is keen to prove that he is not a one-Test wonder, in reference to his memorable Test debut against Pakistan in 2013.

Craig Simmons vs Robbie Frylinck: Perth opening batsman Simmons hit two centuries in the recently concluded Big Bash League, making him responsible for getting the Scorchers off to a flying start. Frylinck on the other hand had a memorable First-Class outing recently where he picked 14 wickets in a match, making him another name to be cautious of among the opposition players.
