The second day of the fourth Test between England and South Africa was one of the most dramatic days of the tour. England, who had collapsed to 260 for 6 on the opening day, put up 362 for South Africa to chase. The visitors, on the other hand, gave up to the England bowlers and were reduced to 220 for 9 at stumps. As England dominate South Africa, here are a few highlights from the day’s play.
Jonny Bairstow’s 99: Bairstow played a stupendous knock. Despite not getting enough support from the other end, Bairstow gradually completed his half-century and then proceed in search of the fourth century. He batted exceptionally well with the tail but remained unlucky to get out for 99. It was the 50th instance when a batsman got out at the exact score of 99.

James Anderson picks up first wicket bowling from ‘James Anderson end’: It was a proud moment for England’s most successful bowler, as James Anderson was bowling for the first time from the end named after him. And he took only three deliveries to get his first wicket bowling from the end, as he dismissed Dean Elgar for a duck.
Anderson takes 4-for: If South Africa bowlers had a great first day of the match with the ball, England had a better one, as Anderson registered a 4-wicket haul. He got England the first breakthrough and later bagged three more in the last session of the day, thus destructing the visitors’ batting.
13 wickets in one day: Thanks to South Africa’s dramatic collapse, Old Trafford on Saturday witnessed 13 wickets falling on the same day. England lost their four wickets in the very first session of the day while, the visitors went on losing their thereafter, till the last ball of the day.
