Virat Kohli has become the first Indian captain ever in their history to score a double century in Test cricket. Kohli achieved this feat during the first session on the second day of their opening Test against West Indies, at Antigua. As India took lunch at a commanding position of 404 for 4 in their first innings, Kohli remained unbeaten on exact 200 off 281 balls, having struck 24 boundaries. But right after lunch, a few balls into the game, the Indian skipper chopped one onto his wickets. However, he was finally able to complete his maiden double century in First-Class cricket, which he celebrated by taking off his helmet and kissing the field. This may be Kohli’s first double century in First-Class cricket, he already has had three more scores in the past across formats in excess of 200. Kohli’s career-best score of 251 not out came against Himachal Pradesh while playing for Delhi, in the Vijay Merchant Trophy 2004-05 Under-17 match. In the Vijay Merchant Trophy 2005-06 Under-17 match against Baroda, Kohli slammed 228 but the game ended in a draw. In the same season, he was among the runs once again as Kohli struck a fabulous 227, studded with 20 boundaries and 1 six. But once again, the game ended in a draw.

Coming back to the ongoing match, Kohli had already become the ninth Indian captain to have scored 1,000 runs in Test cricket. This was his fifth Test century as captain, and he equalled MAK Pataudi and Sourav Ganguly in the list.
