Gujarat Lions (GL) face Mumbai Indians (MI) in Match No. 54 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2016. The match will be played at Green Park, Kanpur which hosted its first ever IPL and night match in Match No. 51 of the ninth edition of IPL, which was attended by none other than the CEO of Apple, Tim Cook. Lions have already have a foot in the playoffs,  will to cement their place even more with a victory, while MI will look to get on top 4 of the table with a win. Top-Order: Gujarat Lions have one of the most destructive opening pair in Dwayne Smith and Brendon McCullum. Both have been in exceptional form for GL giving them much need boost at the top. Coming in at No. 3 is skipper Suresh Raina, who has slowly but steadily regained form. In the last match Raina, played a crucial knock of 53 runs guiding his team to a comprehensive victory. With the playoffs coming up, all these batsmen will want to be at their best.

Middle-Order: Dinesh Karthik who started the IPL with good performances has somewhat lost his shine since. Karthik will hope to his batting woes come to an end and his contribution to the team increases. World No. 2 T20I batsman Aaron Finch has been the Lions’ pillar of batting in the middle-order. Finch has been consistent with the bat, and will look to provide the much needed impetus to their batting prowess. Ravindra Jadeja, who is yet to blossom with the bat in this edition of IPL, will want to get the monkey off his back before the crucial playoff stage. West Indian Champion Dwayne Bravo will come in next will look to do his bit with the bat, after showing his excellence with the ball in previous games.

Lower-Order: Lions bowling heroes Praveen Kumar and Dhawal Kulkarni have been in decent form of late. Praveen has looked in complete control of the ball swinging the ball both ways in the last few matches, but he took a pounding in the initial stages of the tournament. Kulkarni on the other hand has provided good support to Praveen, picking up wickets at crucial moments. Eklavya Dwivedi who hasn not yet able to show his skills will surely want to make a point. Shadab Jakati will look to add another dimension to the GL spin attack.
